Our Board

These individuals represent a cross-section of our customer base and will provide Iowa State Bank with valuable support throughout their terms. In addition to their role as ambassadors to the community on behalf of Iowa State Bank, board member responsibilities include providing insight into the Bank's products, services and programs, assisting the Bank in community relations by adding their support to worthwhile programs for the betterment of the community and working with the Bank to build a more prosperous community.

Frank Vogel

Franklin Vogel presently serves as Chairman of the Board of Iowa State Bank as well as President & CEO of Vogel Bancshares. He also serves as a board member for EFFCO Co., Des Moines Iowa.

His past involvement includes: Orange City Development Corp. member, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Northwestern College, President of Diamond Vogel Paints, Orange City Utilities Board of Trustees, Iowa Mfg. Assoc. and Church council member.

Frank and his wife Lois reside in Orange City.

Drew Vogel

Drew Vogel is the President/CEO of Vogel Paint Inc. in Orange City. He has served on the Iowa State Bank Board since 1988.

Drew was born and raised in Orange City. After attending college he worked in the paint business in Omaha, Minneapolis and Denver. In 1987 he and his wife Jean returned to Orange City, where they raised their family.

Drew currently serves on several area boards; including Northwestern College, Association of Business in Iowa and ATLAS of Orange City.

Wrede Vogel

Wrede Vogel, MD is the Executive Director of The Luke Society (www.lukesociety.org), a Christian Medical Mission organization based out of Sioux Falls, SD. He has served on the Iowa State Bank Board of Directors since 1992. Wrede was born and raised in Orange City, received his undergraduate and medical education in Omaha, NE and Family Practice training in Sioux City, IA. Wrede and his wife, Barbara, live in Luverne, MN. Their grown children and grandchildren live in Orange City.

Leroy Van Kekerix

Leroy Van Kekerix is the President and CEO of Iowa State Bank. Leroy has been with Iowa State Bank for the last 22 years of his 27 year banking career.

He was raised on a farm near Sheldon, and now lives with his wife, Jasey and daughters, Kinzie and Keaton in Orange City.

Leroy has served on various community committees, and is currently the President of the Board of Trustees at Northwest Iowa Community College, and is a Deacon and Chairman of the Shepherding Committee at First Reformed Church of Orange City.

Gary Westra has been in the banking field for 38 yrs. and has been with Iowa State Bank for 18 yrs. He is involved with Hull Industrial Development, City of Hull Foundation, Hull Christian School Foundation Board, Hull Kiwanis, Hull Chamber of Commerce, and Hope Christian Reformed Church Elder.

Denny Van Oort has been working at Iowa State Bank and in the banking field for 10 years. Before becoming a member of the Iowa State Bank team he owned and operated his own feed business in Ireton. Denny is a council member for the town of Ireton, Vice President of the Siouxland Community Foundation and chairman of the Ireton Community Foundation.

Scott Kooiman has been with Iowa State Bank for 2 1/2 years and has been in banking for 18 years. Scott is involved with Lions Club, ATLAS, President of Kiwanis and is District Treasurer of the MOC-Floyd Valley School Board. Scott and his family live in Orange City and are members of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.

Ken Hengeveld has been in the financial services field for over 30 years. Ken has been with Iowa State Bank over 8 years. A Sheldon native and lifelong resident Ken is involved with the SCDC Committees, Love INC, Church Council and the Advisory Boards.

Doug Beukelman

Doug is the vice president of Financial Affairs at Northwestern College in Orange City. He and his wife Janelle live in Boyden. Doug is active in the Tabernacle Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, and is also on the Boyden Charitable Foundation Board. Doug has served on the Iowa State Bank board since 1997.

Dennis Wright

Dennis Wright and his wife, Pat, have lived in Hull for 40 years. Dennis taught at Boyden Hull High School 34 years and is now retired. He was on the Hull City Council for 6 years and served as mayor of Hull for 12 years. He has served on many other boards and committees throughout those 34 years. He is currently serving as a Sioux County Supervisor and a part-time professional painter. He is serving on the Youth Emergency Services Board, the Advisory Board for Creative Living,the Board of Mental Health Consortium, the Board of Directors for the Greater Siouxland Community Health Center and the Iowa State Bank Community Board at this time.

Evert Van Maanen farms Northwest of Hull with his wife Kathy. Evert has owned and operated a successful Livestock/Crop farm for 30 years. Evert & Kathy are involved in their church and school having served on various committees thru the years.

John and his wife Glenda live in Hull, IA where John has been in the private practice of law since 1979.

John is a member of the Hull Kiwanis Club and presently serves as Secretary. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Hull Industrial Development Corporation and is President of the Hull Community Foundation Board.

Lee Maassen

Russell and his wife, Donna have farmed on the family's Century Farm west of Craig for 36 years. They crop farm and also feed cattle and hogs. Russell serves as President of the Board for Farmers Coop in Craig and is also active in his church in Craig. Russell and Donna have been blessed with three sons who are married and have seven grandchildren.

Lee Maassen

Lee has been involved in the family farm his entire life with both his father and now his sons. Their enterprises consist of dairy, beef cattle and crops. He and his wife Emily live near Maurice, IA.

Lee currently serves as Vice President on the boards of the Western Iowa Dairy Alliance and National Dairy Herd Information Assoc. for the Central Region. He also serves as an elder at Maurice Reformed Church

Jerry Muilenburg Jerry and his wife Donna have farmed on the family's Century Farm near Maurice for 35 years. They crop farm along with raising cattle and hogs.

Jerry currently serves as a board member of the Sioux County Soil commission, the Sioux County Board of Adjustments, and German Farmers Mutual Ins Co. in Sioux Center.

Bert Aarsen

Bert and his wife Peggy live in Orange City. Bert earned his CPA certification in 1978 while working for an accounting firm in Dallas. He moved to Orange City in 1998 when he accepted a job as CFO for Vogel Paint Inc.

He and Peggy have served on the Tulip Festival Steering Committee for 5 years.

Rod Jeltema

Rod Jeltema has owned and operated DeJong Oil & Repair Inc. for the last 37 years. Rod and his wife Ruth live in Orange City where they are members of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church and Rod has served as both Elder and Deacon.

Tom Lange

Tom has lived in the Paullina area his entire life. He and his wife Janet have owned and operated their livestock/crop farm since 1963.

They are members of the Zion Lutheran Church.

John and his wife Jane live in Paullina, Iowa where they own and operate furniture, gift and floor covering stores in both Paullina and Remsen. John began involvement with the businesses with his parents in 1964, taking them both over in 1982. He also farms in the Remsen area.

John is currently a member of the city council and also serves on the boards of the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital Foundation and the St Anthony Church Financial Board.

Craig Solsma

Craig Solsma farms west of Sanborn. He and his wife Tammy have four children. Craig and his family are active members of the Sanborn Community. He also serves as a board member for the Western Christian High School.

Rodney Den Hartog

Rodney and his wife, Lisa live in Sanborn and they have three children. Rodney became a chiropractor in 1991 when he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic. He has been in private practice in Sanborn since 1993.

Previous boards that Rodney has been on are: Sanborn Christian School, Sanborn Chamber of Commerce, Northwest Iowa Chiropractic Society, and Sanborn–Hartley Funeral Home.

Gary Doppenberg

Gary has over 40 years of experience in feed sales and services. He started Deluxe Feeds, Inc. in 1972, which he still owns and operates today. Gary is also involved in the livestock industry, operating successful swine and cattle businesses. He and his wife, Donna, have two children and two grandchildren. Their son Dusty, is also very involved in the family business. Gary participates in his community by serving as a member of the Dordt College Board of Trustees, and has volunteered in several capacities with his local church and school.
